The Lisboa Card in Belém

One card for the tram, the train and three Belém sights. Whether it saves you money depends on your age, the day of the week and how much you squeeze in.

The Lisboa Card has new prices, valid from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. The 24-hour adult card is EUR 31, the 72-hour card EUR 62.

Belém is where the card earns its keep, because three paid sights sit within a 15-minute walk of each other: the Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Monument to the Discoveries). Here are the numbers for one Belém day, and the cases where buying tickets at the door is cheaper.

The quick answer

An adult 24-hour Lisboa Card costs EUR 31 until 31 March 2027. It pays off in Belém if you visit all three sights in one day: EUR 10 for the Padrão, EUR 18 for Jerónimos and EUR 15 for Belém Tower, plus about EUR 7 of transport, add up to around EUR 50. Skip it on a Monday, for children under 13, and for visitors under 25 or over 65, who already pay half.

How much does the Lisboa Card cost in 2026?

EUR 31 for 24 hours, EUR 51 for 48 hours and EUR 62 for 72 hours for adults; children aged 4 to 15 pay EUR 21, 28 and 35. Under-4s need no card.

The prices come from the official Turismo de Lisboa shop, which states they are valid until 31 March 2027, and match the table on lisboacard.org ("valid from April 1st, 2026 until March 31st, 2027"). The hours run consecutively from the first time you tap the card, not per calendar day.

You buy a voucher online, then exchange it at an Ask Me Lisboa desk (the airport arrivals hall has one) for a physical card. Write in the date and time of first use, sign it, and validate it on your first bus, tram or train.

What does the Lisboa Card cover in Belém?

Free trams, buses and CP trains to Belém, free entry to the Padrão, and free entry to Jerónimos and Belém Tower with a booked time slot.

  • Getting there: tram 15E from Praça da Figueira, Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré, buses, and the CP Cascais line train from Cais do Sodré to Belém, about 10 minutes. The official shop even suggests trams 12, 28 or 15 "to get to Belém".
  • Padrão dos Descobrimentos: the official ticket page lists Lisboa Card holders among those exempt from payment. No slot needed; show the card at the desk.
  • Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower: free, but both need a date and time booked with your card number.
  • Also in Belém: the National Coach Museum. The National Archaeology Museum, next to Jerónimos, is listed as closed for works.

One more thing from the shop's small print: the Santa Justa lift is also listed as temporarily closed. Free rides on it are not much use this year.

The Jerónimos cloister: EUR 18 at the door, free with the card and a slot.

Is the Lisboa Card worth it for one day in Belém?

Yes, if you see all three sights and ride there and back: about EUR 50 at the door against EUR 31. With two sights it is roughly even; with one it loses.

We priced each plan for one adult, with transport as a EUR 7.25 Carris and Metro 24-hour ticket or two EUR 1.90 single trips on a EUR 0.50 navegante card (2026 fares from the Metro de Lisboa fare sheet). A ticket bought on board the tram costs more, EUR 3.30 a ride.

The winner is the full Belém day. The trap is the half-day: the Padrão plus Belém Tower costs less than the card even with transport.

The Lisboa Card fits this walk well: the Jerónimos ticket is not included in the price, so the card covers it, and the group is eight people at most.

When is the Lisboa Card not worth it in Belém?

On Mondays, for children under 13, for visitors aged 13 to 24 or over 65, and if your tour already includes the Jerónimos ticket.

  • Mondays: Jerónimos and Belém Tower are closed. Only the Padrão is open, and EUR 10 beats EUR 31.
  • Children up to 12: free at all three sights already. A EUR 21 child card buys them transport only. Teenagers of 13 to 15 are the exception: EUR 5 + 9 + 7.50 at the door plus transport edges past the child card.
  • Ages 16 to 24: half price at Jerónimos and the tower, and EUR 5 at the Padrão (youth rate up to 25). That is EUR 21.50 for all three, so the adult card loses.
  • Over 65: EUR 9 + 7.50 + 8.50 = EUR 25, plus transport. Roughly even; not worth the slot booking hassle.
  • Your tour includes Jerónimos: the Belém half-day with Jerónimos and the walk with monastery tickets already pay for the cloister.
  • Residents of Portugal: Acesso 52 gives free entry to Jerónimos and the tower on 52 days a year.

Card-holder slots are also capped. The Lisboa Card site warns that access depends on "the limited number of daily entries available to Lisboa Card holders". In high season that can mean a slot later than you wanted.

How do you book Jerónimos and Belém Tower slots with the Lisboa Card?

Collect the physical card first, then book each monument on the official MMP ticket shop's Lisboa Card page with your card number. The ticket is free.

  1. Exchange your voucher at an Ask Me Lisboa desk. You cannot book before this step.
  2. Open the Lisboa Card section of the MMP ticket shop and pick "Torre de Belém - Lisboa Card" or "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos - Lisboa Card".
  3. Choose a date and half-hour slot, enter the card's serial number, and download the zero-cost ticket.
  4. Show the ticket and the card at the entrance. For the Padrão, no booking: just show the card at the desk.

Book both slots the moment you hold the card. Belém Tower now runs about 60 people per half hour (how the new slots work), and the card-holder share is only part of that.

Which Belém tours go well with a Lisboa Card?

Tours that do not include the Jerónimos ticket. Ride tram 15E or the train to the meeting point on the card, and let the card pay for the cloister.

The small-group Belém walk is the obvious match: three hours, eight people, the Jerónimos ticket (EUR 18) excluded, and 30 minutes outside the Padrão. The Belém walk with pastéis is shorter and starts near the tram stop on Rua de Belém. None of these tours takes you up the Padrão, but with the card the terrace costs you nothing extra after the tour.

Getting there is covered in our guide to reaching the Padrão, and the tickets guide has every price at the monument.

Does the Lisboa Card include the Padrão dos Descobrimentos?

Yes. The monument's official ticket page lists Lisboa Card holders as exempt from payment, and no time slot is needed.

Is the Lisboa Card worth it just for Belém?

Only after you exchange your voucher for the physical card. Then you book a free slot with the card number on the official MMP ticket shop.
